Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bennett, Williamsport, are observing their 40th wedding anniversary today, Sept. 2, 2012.
They were married by Woodrow Brown in Williamsport.
Mrs. Bennett, the former Marian Yoder, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Ester and Harold Yoder Sr. She attended school in the Williamsport area. She retired in February of this year from Walmart Stores Inc., Montoursville.

Mr. Bennett, a native of Waldoboro, Maine, is the son of the late Edith and Vernon Bennett Sr. He attended Waldoboro area schools and served in the Army from 1964 to 1967. He retired in February 2010 from Primus Technologies.
They are the parents of two sons, Gary Rennicks II, Williamsport, and the late Gerald Rennicks, and a daughter, Lisa Hamm, South Williamsport.
There are 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a trip to Tennessee is being planned.
