Applications are being accepted for Clinton, Lycoming, Mifflin and Blair County area young women in their senior year in high school for the Pennsylvania Outstanding Young Woman Scholarship Program.
Applications are being accepted until Sept. 28 for young ladies interested in representing her county in the 2012 state finals.
The top high school senior girls in the state will then converge on the city of Reading during Thanksgiving week to represent their county and participate in the Pennsylvania's Outstanding Young Woman 2012 state finals.
The Outstanding Young Woman Scholarship Program is in its 15th year of recognizing high school senior girls. Last year, the Outstanding Young Woman program awarded almost $10,000 in cash scholarships to its award winners.
In addition to the cash scholarships that help defer the high cost of college tuition, the young women also could be eligible for additional individual tuition scholarships from ten institutions of higher learning.
