Jersey Shore veteran receives Legion award

August 26, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

On July 21, the Pennsylvania American Legion held its 94th annual Department Convention at the Hilton Hotel in Harrisburg.

Each year, the Legion gathers together more than 2,000 delegates in the state to honor its award winners, such as George W. Shroat, of Jersey Shore, who received the 2012 "It's a Good Thing You Do" award. He received the award from Department Commander Kerrie Gill.

Shroat was chosen from more than 200,000 American Legion members to be the Central Section's "It's a Good Thing You Do" award winner.

The award means he has put his country, his community and veterans above all else in the state.
