Heart of Pennsylvania to perform Saturday

LEWISBURG - The Heart of Pennsylvania, a women's barbershop chorus based in Lewisburg, is slated to perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Central Oak Heights, along Route 15.

Heart's Desire and Generation Gap quartets also will sing a few selections.

The chorus is under the direction of Dee Casteel, and is a member of Harmony Inc. Members come from throughout the Susquehanna Valley and have performed at many venues including nursing and retirement homes, and church and community events, as well as at the Community Theatre League.

Heart of Pennsylvania sings a variety of music styles, including patriotic, religious and secular music, all in the traditional four part barbershop style.

The group is available for performances and events by calling Bev Staman at 538-3942.

Children's musical class to be held in the fall

WATSONTOWN - Music's the Balm will celebrate it's seventh semester of Music Together, and is now accepting applications for fall 2012.

The class is a movement class for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents, grandparents and caregivers. The classes will begin Sept. 14 at various times.

Interested families may try a class for free at several times: 11 a.m., Monday at MyTown children's restaurant, Columbia Mall, Buckhorn; 10 a.m. Aug. 30, Meadows Assisted Living Community, Montoursville; 10 and 11:15 a.m., James V. Brown Library and 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 7, Bucknell Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Lewisburg.
