Thank you, Mitch Rupert, for putting a little perspective on Williamsport's pouty mayor's latest big deal. I really do get a charge out of Mayor Campana's very thin skin.
Here he is, making a deal on Bowman Field to share the facility with another sports team without bothering to tell the current occupant any details. Then he gets annoyed or feels "disrespected" because they dare bring up questions. Not everyone has to love your proposals and, perhaps if you had been more forthcoming you might have won more friends.
Mr. Ruperts piece lends a reality for this deal; they are called details. Like what about the 2,000 needed fan base; where is the study that shows people will drive for 2 or 3 hours to see a game or use the rink; and who really does get the cash from beers sold? And let's not forget parking; every time the mayor utters that word, I see another parking garage.
I sincerely wish the rink and the team much success; but I also agree with Mr. Rupert when he says "it screams of a process hastily put together." We must stay tuned.
