SELINSGROVE - Rebecca Frazier, of Williamsport, is spending the summer studying the effects of prenatal nutrition on gonadotropin-releasing hormone neuronal function in rats at Susquehanna University.

Her research involves studying whether the effects of prenatal nutrition directly affect the way GnRH functions in the body.

GnRH is a trophic peptide hormone that is responsible for triggering the release of other hormones in the anterior pituitary gland as a part of puberty and sexual maturation in mammals.

Frazier, a neuroscience major, will be a junior in the fall.

She is a 2010 graduate of Williamsport Area High School and is the daughter of Brenda and Chip Frazier.
