Man accused of pot possession

Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Officers handling a disturbance call last week on High Street ended up taking a man who was wanted by Wilkes-Barre police into custody, according to city police.

In addition to the warrant, Ronald C. Morton, 29, of 1328 High St., was found to have a bag of marijuana on him when officers arrived at his home about 5:50 a.m. on July 6.

"I was going to smoke that weed," he told police.

Wilkes-Barre police have charged him with theft for allegedly stealing $2,000 and a cellphone from his ex-girlfriend's purse during a disturbance in that city on March 31.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley on charges of theft, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Morton was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $12,500 bail.
