Woman, boyfriend sentenced for escape attempt

July 12, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

A woman who didn't return to the Transitional Living Center residential facility on West Third Street May 17 was sentenced to two to four years in state prison for escape, and her boyfriend was sentenced to 23 months' supervised probation and six months in Lycoming County Prison for hindering her apprehension.

Sherry Lee Wise, 48, was taken into custody May 29 after being found by state police hiding under a pile of clothes in a second-floor unit of Timberland Apartments.

John Kevin Derr, 52, who also uses an alias of Jason Hulsizer, according to police, answered the apartment door when police said they were looking for Wise.

Derr told police he didn't know who they were searching for and denied knowing the Wise.

Police said the couple had been together since Wise absconded from TLC and had been living in tents by the Susquehanna River.

Both were sentenced Monday in Lycoming County Court by Judge Dudley N. Anderson.
