Brian Pointer had two home runs and six RBIs as the Crosscutters used a seven-run first inning to defeat Staten Island, 11-8, on Sunday.
Roman Quinn, Chace Numata and Cameron Perkins started the game with three straight triples. Pointer hit a 395-foot grand slam into center field later in the first inning.
Despite the huge lead early, the Yankees scored two runs in the second and fifth before a four-run sixth inning made it just a three run game.
Jeb Stefan helped silence Staten?Island the rest of the way, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings, and allowing just one hit.
All nine of the Crosscutters starting lineup got a hit. Williamsport also collected three doubles to go with its three triples and two home runs.
The Cutters had 10 RBIs as well.
Williamsport improves to 9-12 and faces Staten?Island again today in the final game of the series.
