Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Getgen, Williamsport, observed their 70th wedding anniversary July 3, 2012.
They were married by the Rev. Fred Steiner in Muncy Valley. They are members of Christian Church at Cogan Station.
Mrs. Getgen, the former Eleanor Louise Porter, is a native of Ogdensburg. She is the daughter of the late Lydia E. Schmelzle Porter and Burdette M. Porter. She graduated from Canton High School in 1939 and from Goodwin's School of Business in 1940. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Getgen, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Elcy M. Hollins Getgen and Ira L. Getgen. He attended Williamsport High School and graduated from the former Williamsport Technical Institute, now Pennsylvania College of Technology. He served in the 8th Air Force during World War II. He retired in 1981 from the former Avco, now Textron Lycoming.
They are the parents of three daughters, Bonnie Charron, Oroville, Calif.; Susan Rey, Sandy, Utah; and the late Vickie; and five sons, James, Penn Yan, N.Y., John, Don and Bart, all of Williamsport; and the late Brett.
There are 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two more great-grandchildren are expected.
In honor of their anniversary, an open house was hosted by their family and friends July 1 at Christian Church, at Cogan Station.
