Billy E. Guthrie, 76, of Muncy, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Oct. 23, 1935, in Wayne Township, he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret Gump Guthrie. He and his wife, the former, Theresa M. Jordan, would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on Nov. 1, 2012.
Billy served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 268, Muncy. He retired in 1997 from Axeman-Anderson, South Williamsport, after having worked there for over 10 years.

He enjoyed volunteering at the Son Light House, Muncy and was a member of the Moreland Baptist Church. Billy loved baseball and was an avid Pirates fan. He also enjoyed gardening, lawn work with his favorite tractor, jigsaw puzzles and above all, spending time with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Brenda S. (Kenneth) Shafer of Williamsport and Jodi K. (Craig) Everett of Lees Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Robert (Marge) Guthrie of Bradford, Perry Guthrie of New York and Glen (Mary) Guthrie of Custer City; and two sisters, Nancy (Lee) Moore of Virginia and Kae Guthrie of Maryland.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Road, Muncy, with the Rev. Robert Ingraham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.
