Mr. and Mrs. Russ Hering, McEwensville, are observing their 40th wedding anniversary today, July 1, 2012.
They were married by the Rev. Graham Freeman at Ashler Manor, Muncy. They are members of St. John United Church of Christ, McEwensville.
Mrs. Hering, the former Anita Free, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of Blanche and Harry W. Free Jr. She graduated from Montoursville Area High School in 1970 and formerly was employed by Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove.

Mr. Hering, a native of Lewisburg, is the son of the late Vera and Harry Hering. He graduated from Warrior Run High School, Turbotville, in 1967 and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2010 after 40 years of service with Textron Lycoming.
They are the parents of two daughters, Kristy McNett, Watsontown; and Amanda, Williamsport; and a son, Andrew, McEwensville.
There are eight grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, the couple is planing a trip to Hawaii in December.
