Compare the inequality between government and non-government lawbreakers. Two California Sheriff's deputies, a firearm dealer, and a buyer were "indicted" by federal prosecutors for illegally selling dozens of illegal handguns and high powered rifles to unqualified buyers. "One" firearm went to a convicted drug dealer, and "two" others were converted to assault weapons and recovered by the police after a standoff.
The two deputies were charged with engaging in a firearm business without a license, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The dealer, buyer, and one deputy was charged with making false statements in federal firearm records and the penalty for each charge is 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. They were apprehended by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and if guilty should be incarcerated.
President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Sec. of State, Hillary Clinton, blamed the escalation of violence in Mexico on the repeal of the Assault Weapons Ban, and American gun dealers selling guns to straw purchasers for the Drug Cartels. Later, BATFE launched Fast and Furious permitting 2,000 weapons to cross the border into the hands of the Drug Cartels causing Border Agent Brian Terry's death plus 300 Mexicans.
Mexico's murder rate skyrocketed and many of the illegal guns were traced back to government's Fast and Furious program. BATFE's Special Agent Bill Newell admitted the White House was involved but denied allowing guns to walk.
President Obama, Eric Holder, and BATFE wanted the Assault Weapons Ban reinstated, guns were allowed to walk, a bloodbath occurred, and after three years, no indictments, only promotions, re-assignments, and resignations have occurred.
