Aldo L. Tagliaferri

Aldo L. Tagliaferri, 88, of 2725 Four Mile Drive, Montoursville, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the Hillside Assisted Living Center.

Aldo was born in Stavertown, Pa., on June 8, 1923, the son of Anthony and Anna Grieco Tagliaferri. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Mater Dolorosa Church. Aldo served in the Second World War from 1942 to 1945. He was stationed in England in the U.S. Army Air Corp. as a sergeant in Aviation Ordnance. From 1949 until 1958 he owned Tag's Food Market and from 1959 to 2005, he and his wife were proud owners of Tag's Restaurant. He closed the business after the death of his son. He was a former member of the Williamsport Country Club, the Wheel Club, the Eagles Club and was a 4th degree member in the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Leah E. Taddeo Tagliaferri, in March of 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Rowe of Pinehurst, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Tagliaferri of Williamsport; grandchildren, Alivia C., Aldo L., and Mary Ann Tagliaferri. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Keith, Anthony, and Aniyah. His brothers, Alfred J. Tagliaferri of Phoenixville, Pa., and Frank A. Tagliaferri of West Mifflin, Pa., also survive him. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony M.; brothers, Arthur and Adolf; and sister, Nataline Rampulla; and a son-in-law, Terry G. Rowe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 635 Hepburn St., Williamsport, at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Bechtal will officiate. Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 190 Choate Circle, Suite 2, Montoursville, PA 17754 or to the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 711 W. Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
