Announcement has been made of the engagement of Lauren Kay Hemrick, Watsontown, and Matthew William Brown, West Valley City, Utah.
An Aug. 10 wedding is being planned.
Hemrick is the daughter of Lisa and Brian Hemrick, Watsontown. She graduated from Warrior Run High School, Turbotville, in 2008 and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biobehavioral health at Penn State University. She is employed by Animal Medical Hospital, State College.

Brown is the son of Cindy and David Brown, West Valley City, Utah. He graduated from Cyprus High School, Magna, Utah, in 2008. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in crime, law and justice at Penn State University. He is a member of the Penn State Army ROTC.
