Woman charged with writing 2 bad checks
MANSFIELD - Christina M. Weimer, 27, of 10 Helvetia St., Wellsboro, was charged by state police with writing two bad checks.
According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson's office, Weimer was charged after she wrote the checks, totaling $600, to a second party who cashed them at First Citizens bank in Wal-Mart on March 17.
She was issued a summons to appear for a June 13 preliminary hearing.
Man, 26, allegedly stole cash from tavern
WELLSBORO - Christopher J. Bowen, 26, of Canton, was charged by state police with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property after he allegedly took money from the Twin Streams Tavern on Route 414 in Morris Township.
Bowen allegedly entered the tavern and began looking through cupboards and drawers, finally locating several cash drawers and boxes in the office containing cash, according to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office. He then took about $2,500 cash and fled out the front door, police said.
On probation, Bowen was jailed in lieu of $35,000 bail. He waived his preliminary hearing and his county arraignment is set for June 11.
