Spinners guild to hold meeting in new location

MIFFLINBURG - The Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild will hold their next meeting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a new location, The Daily Grind, 6404 Old Turnpike Road.

Guild member Cindy Buckhart will present the program introducing us to the world of miniatures and dollhouses. She will explain scale and share her miniature woven rugs.

DAR to hold March luncheon

The Lycoming County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a luncheon at noon Tuesday at the Woman's Club, 414 Walnut St.

The luncheon program will be "History and Nature in the Loyalsock Creek Watershed," presented by Ruth N. Rode, and the DAR Good Citizen for the 2011-12 school year will be honored during the event.

Historical society to hold meeting

MONTGOMERY - The next public meeting of the Montgomery Area Historical Society will be held at 7 p.m. March 20 at the Montgomery Borough Office, 35 S. Main St.

President Doug Snyder will offer a presentation on Montgomery Borough history.

The focus will be on early history of the borough that is 125 years old with an incorporation date of March 1887. This meeting is free and open to the general public.

An event regarding the history of the village of Alvira is planned for April 14 and will be held with the cooperation of the state Game Commission within State Game Lands No. 252 along Alvira Road.
