Montford Point Marines presentation set at church
Love Unlimited Ministries, with the Revs. Willie and Dorothy Anderson, will present a presentation about The Montford Point Marines at 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at First Baptist Church of Williamsport, 380 W. Fourth St.
The Montford Point Marines were the nation's first African-American Marines. By becoming the first black Marines, they helped break down legal racial segregation in America and proved that blacks could perform admirably in the Corps. Democratic Club holds benefit dinner
The Young Men's Democratic Club, 230 East St., will hold a benefit spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
The dinner will benefit the Greater Williamsport Notre Dame Club's Helping Hands project.
The club uses the proceeds to assist a local child who has a special need.
Take outs are available at 4:30 p.m.
There is a fee for the meal, which is open to the public. Reservations may be made by calling 326- 7609.
Strobel's to offer sewing classes
Strobel's Sewing Center, 201 Basin St., will offer the following classes in February:
Women of Influence Block of the Month - 1 to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 27.
Turn 20 or Turning 20 Again Quilt Class - noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 18.
Cardinal Embroidery Project in a Hoop with instructor Marianne Mullinix - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 21.
