All systems are go, provided a few remaining conditions are met, for construction of a conference center and hotel on the former site of the Faxon Lumber Co. on East Third Street in the spring.
The plans are a reality following preliminary approval of the development plan by the Loyalsock Township Board of Supervisors last week.
Those two sentences almost need to be repeated, given how many times there have been plans for a convention center over the past three decades.
This may actually be happening.
Developers don't just build things to build them. That costs too much.
That means they've determined there is a market to support this facility and what that market is.
That amounts to bigtime economic hope and dollars coming into our community in the future.
