Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Messner, Springville, Tenn., observed their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 26, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. Charles Russ in Liberty.
Mrs. Messner, the former Delores Bennett, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Delroy and Frances Saboski Bennett. She attended Liberty High School and was employed by West Fourth Manufacturing and Favilla Mills.

Mr. Messner, a native of Nisbet, is the son of the late Ernest and Esther Simpson Messner. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1951 and served in the Army in the 24th Ordnance Co. in Korea. He was employed by Avco Corp., Piper Aircraft, Lock Haven, and Favilla Mills. He also was the owner and operator of Messner's Hatchery, Jersey Shore, for several years.
They are the parents of two daughters, Jeannie Kowalik, Las Cruces, N.M., and Cindy Wilkins, Palm Harbor, Fla. There are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a surprise dinner was held at Sirloin Steakhouse, Murray, Ky., and a gathering was held at the community center in Springville, Tenn.
