Multiple churches here as well as neighboring churches in Lewisburg and Harrisburg joined together Oct. 29-Nov. 5 during the third annual In His Presence event for the purpose of bringing unity to the churches in Williamsport. The foundation of the meetings began with the scriptures II Chronicles 7:14 and Psalms 51 where Godly repentance and turning back to God and His agenda was paramount. Forgiveness between one another and between the churches also was chief.
The event consisted of eight days - three hours each night - for a combined 24 hours. It gave everyone who attended the opportunity to sing praises to God regardless of their worship style or denomination affiliation. Eight churches opened their doors, one each night from 6-9 p.m., and also agreed to pray throughout the whole day for the event. Every evening comprised of two worship teams from local churches who led praise for the evening. Music ranged from exuberant worship with dancing, flags and banners to a holy hush were hardly a sound was heard - only whispers of praise reverently uttered.
A new theme occurred each night all its own and was accepted and celebrated by all who attended. The first night's theme was GOD is our SOURCE, no matter how difficult life becomes, no matter what tests or trials come our way.
The second, GOD is our STRENGTH, they that wait upon (or hope in) the Lord will renew their strength. The third night GOD who is our PEACE. The fourth "in the Presence of the Lord there is fullness of JOY" (from Psalm 16:11). The fifth night, God is a God of great FORGIVENESS ("For with the Lord, there is forgiveness.") All we need to do is confess our sins to Him and asking Him to cleanse us and heal us. And then HE will fill us! The sixth night JESUS is our KING, the seventh night was JESUS, and the eight night was GOD is LOVE.
