Mr. and Mrs. James C. Mechtly, Cogan Station, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 23, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. Charles A. Ross at Balls Mills United Methodist Church, Cogan Station. They are members of Faith Alliance Church.
Mrs. Mechtly, the former Shirley Ann Heim, is a native of Cogan Station. She is the daughter of the late Lillian and Paul Heim. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1955 and has been the secretary at Faith Alliance Church for 46 years.
Mr. Mechtly, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Iva and Archie Mechtly. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1953 and served in the National Guard. He retired after 48 years as a self-employed agricultural lime spreader.
They are the parents of three daughters, Susan Mann, Willow Spring, N.C., Shelly Folmar, Morrisdale, and Jamie, Williamsport. There are five grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration is being planned for December.
