Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Wirth, Williamsport, will observe their 70th wedding anniversary Oct. 31, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. A.C. Paulhamus at the home of the bride's parents in Williamsport. They are 60-plus-year members of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wirth, the former Marion Evelyn Rice, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Margaret L. and Carl L. Rice. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1936 and the former Dickinson Seminary, now Lycoming College. She was employed by the former Avco, now Textron Lycoming, in the personnel department. She retired in 1944 from J.S. Rudinski Jewelry Store, where she was employed as a clerk. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Wirth, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Dora H. and Elmer E. Wirth. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1936 and Dickinson Seminary in 1938. He served in the Navy on the USS San Jacinto during World War II in the Pacific Arena from 1942-45. He retired in 1980 from the former Bethlehem Steel, now Wire Rope Works Inc., where he was employed for 42 1/2 years.
They are the parents of two sons, Charles L. Jr., Loyalsock Township, and John E., Cogan Station. There are two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a family dinner is being planned.
