Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Paul Stabler, South Williamsport, will observe their 58th wedding anniversary Oct. 3, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. Kenneth E. Martin at Grace United Methodist Church, South Williamsport.
Mrs. Stabler, the former Shirley Ann Shirey, is the daughter of the late Melvin Lewis and Ann Kathryn Shirey. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1955 and retired from BiLo Markets in 1999.
Mr. Stabler, a native of South Williamsport, is the son of the late Hiram Williard and Stella Mae Stabler. He graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1954. He attended the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Pennsylvania College of Technology, Penn State University and Bloomsburg University. He received a state vocational II instructional certificate in 1981. He also served in the Air Force from October 1954 to May 1963. He retired from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1999, where he was employed as an associate professor in automotive technology.
They are the parents of two daughters, Vickie Leah Merrifield, Montgomery, and the late Disree Christiana, and three sons, Kevin Lee, Williamsport, Dominic Owen, Lusby, Md., and the late Lawrence Paul Jr. There are eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, the couple attended a reunion of the 7505th United States Air Force Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
