Mr. and Mrs. Donald Shafer, Fernandina Beach, Fla., formerly of Williamsport, observed their 60th wedding anniversary March 24, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. Harold Springman at Balls Mills United Methodist Church. They are members of Memorial United Methodist Church, Fernandina Beach, and former members of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shafer, the former Miriam E. Ulmer, is a native of Hepburn Township. She is the daughter of Florence and Theodore Ulmer. She graduated from Hepburn Township High School in 1948 and retired as a bookkeeper from Mid-Penn Magazine in 1992.

Mr. Shafer, a native of Allentown, is the son of Lena and Ralph Shafer. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1946 and served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He retired from the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau in 1991.
They are the parents of two sons, Mark, Fernandina Beach, and Kenneth, Williamsport, and two daughters, Deborah, Fernandina Beach, and the late Laura. There are three grandchildren.
