Mr. and Mrs. Merel Gordon, South Williamsport, observed their 60th wedding anniversary March 26, 2011.
They were married in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Gordon, the former Phyllis J. McDonald, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Devona and Harry McDonald. She graduated from Williamsport High School and worked as a nurse's aide for Divine Hospital and the Williamsport Home for a number of years.

Mr. Gordon, a native of Bellefonte, is the son of the late Merel and Frances Gordon. He graduated from Williamsport High School and served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1952 as a sergeant. He retired from the former Darling Valve.
They are the parents of two sons, Richard, South Williamsport, and Tim, Williamsport, and four daughters, Kim Sewell, South Williamsport, Kathy Hane, Murrells Inlet, S.C., Amy Gordon, Stoneham, Mass., and Karen Hordon, California. There are 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a celebration, hosted by their children, is being planned at the Valley Inn, DuBoistown.
