EVANS CITY, Pa. (AP) — A woman driving a Jeep and a man driving a compact car are dead after state police say their vehicles collided head-on on a rural highway in western Pennsylvania.

Troopers from the Butler barracks didn't immediately release the names of the drivers killed in the crash Wednesday about 11:30 p.m. on Route 68 in Forward Township. That's about 25 miles north of Pittsburgh.

The road was closed until about 6 a.m. Thursday for accident reconstructionist and emergency crews.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash or whether the woman driving the Jeep or the man driving a Dodge Neon crossed into the wrong lane of travel.
