Roundup: Berguson scores No. 1,000; Knights win thriller at Sullivan

Mansfield's Tim Berguson scored his 1,000th career point Monday night in a 68-43 boys basketball win over Williamson on a second-quarter putback.

Berguson finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds.

"It couldn't happen to a nicer kid," said Mansfield coach Kipper Burleigh. "He's competing for class valedictorian and I can't say enough good things about him."

Caleb Fousts' 3-pointer lifted St. John Neumann 61-58 at Sullivan County, just seconds after the Griffins' Kyle Gleockler hit a three to tie it. Foust scored 25 points and nailed five 3-pointers while Kyle Gleockler scored a game-high 26 and made six from beyond the arc.

Fred Rogers nailed six 3-pointers en route to 26 points as Jersey Shore moved a game above .500 with an 88-80 win over Selisngrove. The two teams combined to make 17 3-pointers as Matt Salsman and Corey Briggs combined for 47 of the Seals' 80 points. Ben Barnhart netted 25 for the Bulldogs.

Matt Shadle scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and nine steals to lift Galeton to a 59-51, overtime win over Elkland. Zach Lancaster had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Lucas Crans had 17 for the Rams.

John Bohnert had 14 points and Joel Gregory 10 rebounds as Liberty beat North Penn, 49-42.

Tyler Ruby's 20 points lifted Muncy past Bucktail, 64-60.

CeNtral Columbia picked up a big win over South Williamsport on Monday night, defeating the Mounties by a final score of 61-42

In girls basketball, Jenny Meslener and Emily Lesher combined to pull down 26 rebounds and Meslener added 17 points as Lewisburg downed rival Warrior Run, 40-30.

At Bloomsburg, Jocelyn Shultz scored 30 points to power Bloomsburg past Muncy, 48-36. Ala Miller had 13 points to power the Indians.

Penn College's men's basketball team won its fifth straight, 85-77 at Penn State-Schuylkill, and remained in first place in the PSUAC. Leroy Joiner scored 24 points with 13 rebounds for PC.

In women's basketball, three players scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as Penn College lost, 62-56, in overtime at PSU-Schuylkill. Erica Logan poured in 19 to pace the Wildcats.
