Interesting fact!
There were 36 shootings and 9 homicides reported in Chicago over the weekend of April 19-21 – 3 days.
According to today’s headline news out of Baghdad, Iraq, there were 47 Americans killed in April.
Conclusion: Americans are as safe in Baghdad as Chicago!

If you did in, you will see that the gangs are having a hayday in Chicago. The latino gans are now worse then the black/white gangs by far. Ah well, what can you expect from ONE of the largest sanctuary cities in the U.S.? Don't forget, illegals kill 25 citizens EVERY DAY.

Chicago like most big cities are mostly all LIBERAL, do you need to know any more. Global warming has been going on since the beginning of time formerking, it is not created by us. Al Gore is guilty of being one of the biggest LIBERAL polluters on the face of this earth, that is one reason for his carbon credits, it makes him feel good to cover it up with all his profits he has made, the other reason is for future taxation for those who pollute more then others, like some of you, who use old smokey lawn mower, weed eater, chain saw, 2 cycle out boards, wood stoves, etc. It is all about LIBERAL, LIBERAL, LIBERAL, S O C I A L I S T, Gore, Pollosi, Reed, Casey, Obama taxation, and you liberals fall right into the same trap every time. Then you liberals will cry when you have to pay more for a product that the liberals will convince you pollutes less, when in fact, some where, it will create other problems, and that is a typical liberal sollution, Change for the worse.

Denny, So are you saying cigarettes are safer than Booze? By the way, why is Al Gore a phony? Are you one of the three people left on earth that still doesn't think global warming is real? The same three people that still think dubya is doing a good job?

Sorry I was wrong on the battles,I was only trying to put things in perspective. When I commented on alcohol sales at Wegmans, the Beer people attacked me like I was talking about their first born. Why don't all the Bush Haters and war critics hate alcohol? It kills more people in a year than 10 Iraqs.I can't figure that out. Soldiers get killed, That's why they are called soldiers.Innocent citizens get killed and maimed at a much greater rate every day than Iraq. But now Cigarettes are the Boogey Man.Again ten Marlboros won't send your car into a school bus.5 Kools won't cause you to beat your spouse. Give me a break with all these phoney arguments.Whenever something becomes the cause celeb, somebody is making money behind it.Not too long ago all we heard about is Herpes "The New Disaster"If you believed what you read and saw on TV we all were gonna die from it.And then it was "Straight people" are all gonna get Aids and die. Now we got that big phoney Al Gore with h

Denny- not to get between you & Chuck on this but the one day body count you're thinking of is Antietam and is 24,000. Your 50,000 is from Gettysburg (3-day total).

It doesn't help when projections and facts are presented that turn out not to be so factual or missed the mark. When an administration can't deliver what it said it would do it's citizens will turn on them. Then you top it all off with economic turmoil in some sectors of our economy. Dissatisfaction isn't very far behind.

For you History buff, The numbers I used were one days loss in the civil War (Americans) and the loss in a few hours at D Day.(Americans also) Again I'm no fan of war. And yes we can use the lessons of Vietnam. Lost our will due to protests and political pressure. And we just packed up and abandoned all our allies in country. What do you think happened to them?

Sooo... according to a lot of the responses here... The more americans you put in one place aka chicago the more americans that will die... The reasoning the OP posted is reasonable in my eyes more Americans die in our own contry than in others even in a hostile area... the math comparision you all are using is an insult toward Americans

Doc7-- I happen to agree with your statement that if we just up and leave, we leave that country as a terrorist staging ground; however I'm more afraid of that situation occurring in Paraguay.Alot of that country is already lawless and out of control, and the CIA reports al-Qaeda is already VERY active in these areas training and recruiting. This staging area is much closer to us, and is positioned to give potential agents easy access to the US southern border. If you haven't read or heard about the situation down there, start doing so today. In 2-3 years time when this 24 party coalition (that took power 3 wks ago) crumbles, Paraguay will be a far greater security risk to us than Iraq is now. Howard -- if you want to make these kind of comparisons you have to include the # of Iraqis killed as well. This would give a more accurate picture of whether a city is as safe as Chicago.

You can't compare the two cities. Our military is fully armed over there so maybe you would have to compare them to the number of police killed in Chicago. How many private citizens in Iraq were killed last month? Apples and oranges. Hey Howard, AAA has a deal on an all-inclusive vacation to Bagdad, Wanna go?

Viet Nam was more complex than "We lost our will and walked away." It was on our TV's news everyday. The first combat brought to our living rooms. It became a topic of discussion all over the country. It became debatable. We now get to see it as it unfolds and as it happens not after the fact.

"a moronic, salivating, knuckle dragger like this" LOL I thought I had some good titles. Howard actually has a point that is always overlooked. I'm not a "War Guy", and any young American death is sad. All I ever point out (and get slammed for) is that we need to keep in perspective these numbers. 50,000 Americans in 1 day,6000 Americans in a few hours. I think car accidents account for over 100,000 a year. Again any young American's death is tragic. Volunteer Military. There's a reason it's called military service. Regardless of Why the war. It really doesn't accomplish a thing arguing over spilled milk. But if we run out now, things over there will most certainly turn into our worst nightmare.Public and political pressure caused the Vietnam War to be abandoned. Now the same pressure is being applied in this case. Ask any Vietnam Vet what happened there. We lost our will and simply walked away.

I'm not sure what the point of the above letter was. The war is wat it is. Soldiers die in war and that's tragic. The violence in war is expected, but not ok either. But what I find more tragic is that so many urban murders in our own country involve young victims. This letter is thought provoking, but I'd hate to see it turn into a Liberal vs Conservative argument, like every other topic here.
