Burlington Coat Factory coming to Lycoming Mall

Corporate officials confirmed a Burlington Coat Factory store is coming to the Lycoming Mall by late summer.

The store is expected to employ 100 people, according to Audrey Shapiro, public relations manager for Burlington Coat Factory.

“We have a store scheduled to grand open the end of August,” Shapiro said in an e-mail.

The company’s Web site does not have the store listed under the “store locator” category but there were job listings in Pennsdale in some categories.

It also is not listed in the grand opening category on the company’s Web site.

The store will fill a vacancy at the mall created when Value City closed in March. That store location opens into the center court of the mall and has its own outside entrance.

The roots of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. go back to 1924 with wholesale sales of ladies coats and junior suits, according to its Web site.

Now, Burlington Coat Factory stores feature coats, apparel, shoes, accessories, baby clothes, furniture, toys, home decor items and gifts. There are more than 390 stores in 44 states, its Web site says.
