Maybe if the DA didn't demand prison for every little retail theft or small amount of marijuana possession or maybe if the Judge's grew a set and stopped sending people to jail for costs and fines and traffic violations especially when they have no job... maybe the county cells could be replaced with violent criminals ??? What a novel idea.

"The heck with them. Pile them up, take away the tv, make them work on chain gangs, give them beans and bread with water to drink. Make it so bad they don't want to go back. Maybe then we will see a decrease in the population at the prison." - nobud74

Yeah...those options have worked so "well", in the past, as is evidenced by the oversized prison-population; nationwide.

"The idea, Judge Butts said, is to keep the county prison for the people who are really a threat to public safety, which has not always been the philosophy.
But something's got to give. The prison is overcrowded most of the time."
