Cherry Springs State Park, Galeton
June 13, July 11 and August 8 - Music and Stars, 8:30 p.m. World renown for its exceptionally dark skies, Cherry Springs State Park is once again the site of the Music and Stars series. The event, co-sponsored by the Bureau of State Parks, the Potter County Fine Arts Council and the Cherry Springs Dark Sky Fund, is a unique mixture of acoustic music and stargazing. The evening begins with a musical performance followed by a stargazing program of the amazing night sky by local astronomer Stash Nawrocki, owner and operator of Crystal Spheres Adventures in Stargazing. Refreshments will be available. Tickets are $10 for an individual, $15 per couple and $17 for a family (a family is considered parents and children, with children under 12 admitted free) and can be purchased in advance at the Lyman Run State Park office (814) 435-5010 and the Coudersport office of the Potter County Education Council (814) 274-4877 or at the gate. Credit card purchases must be made through the Lyman Run office. Tickets are non-refundable and the event will be held rain or shine, with the pavilion being the rain location. It is recommended that participants bring lawn chairs as seating may be limited and to arrive about half an hour early to park their cars and receive âred light kitsã for their flashlights. Participants are advised to dress appropriately, as weather can be unpredictable at Cherry Springs. The first event on June 13 begins at 8:30 p.m. and will feature the music of Red Molly and Cornpone Sally. Other Music and Stars dates are as follows: July 11 and Aug. 8. More information will be posted when available.
