Montoursville vs. Loyalsock 1st inning update

May 14, 2011 - Chris Masse

Moran moves to third on Dalton Young's groundout to shortstop. Travis Singer grounds out to the mound. Loyalsock first: Jackson Person walks. Person moves to second on Stephon Moff's groundout to the mound. Steve Surovec reaches on an E-5. Zach Lomison walks. Person and Surovec score, Lomison out at second on a fielder's choice and Zack Clark to first on an E-4. J.P. Pawlikowski runs for Clark. Pawlikowski scores and Ethan Moore reaches second on an E-9.

Montoursville 1-1 1 3 Loyalsock 3--3 0 0 Christian Clark and Tyler Albert. Zack Clark and Spencer Underdown.

Notes: It was just announced that the consolation game has been postponed which means the championship will take place 30 minutes after this current game ends. Loyalsock will be using a pitching-by-committee with no pitcher throwing more than three innings since it can win its third straight HAC-II championship outright if it defeats Shamokin Monday. Montoursville has defeated Loyalsock 2-0 and 5-4 in the last two Brawls. With Montoursville at 13-2 and Loyalsock 12-3, this game has big-time District 4 Class AA playoff implications. Both teams are fighting for one of the top three seeds. That is big because this field could include as many as 14 teams and first-round byes are crucial since those that do have byes only have to win one game to reach the district semifinals. Christian Clark was hit on the side of the helmet in the game's second at-bat. Fortunately, it was a breaking ball and he appears to be fine, staying in to run. Clark is going to be one sore player. After being hit in the head, Clark gets drilled with Stephon Moff's liner off his foot. Again, though, he appears fine.
