South vs. Williamsport 2nd inning update
May 14, 2011 - Chris Masse
South 2nd: Cal Missigman singled to center field. Missigman out when Justin Knee's grounder hits him in foot running to second. Knee credited with single. Zac Staver strikes out. Knee to third on Matt Marzzacco's ground-rule double to left field. Andrew Gipe grounds out to shortstop. Williamsport 2nd: Ryan Hostrander pops out to first base. Sam VanDeLinde flies out to center field. Fagnano grounds out to shortstop.
Williamsport 2, South 0 South 00--0 3 0 Williamsport 20--2 3 1 Tyler House, Alex Carpenter (1) and Kyle Eck. Jared Fagnano and Josh McCormick.
Notes: South would have scored its first run on Marzzacco's two-out double, but it bounced over the fence, preventing Knee from scoring easily. Gipe nearly beat out a two-out infield single to shortstop. Mounties are hitting well against Fagnano and that has to be encouraging for coach Shawn Finn. Did I mention I'm unhappy with the city of Williamsport? The city has a terrific field and yet it consistently drops the ball when it comes to big games, whether it be the Brawl, the state championships or districts. It's quite frustrating. Brandon Gantz ends the inning with a great play, reaching into the hole, making a rocket throw to first and robbing Fagnano of a two-out single.
