More on the pre-existing condition
April 6, 2010 - Mike Maneval
In a relatively recent blog I described the provisions in the health care reform package concerning the denial of health care coverage for "pre-existing conditions" as falling short. It is a point I want to expand upon.
Insurers will still be able to deny adults coverage for which they've already paid under the nebulous tomfoolery of "pre-existing conditions" until 2014, according to the Christian Science Monitor. While children will be protected from the practice starting in September. The Daily Show on Monday reported that insurance companies are already spending this hard-to-justify lag researching how to withhold services - again, services for which the consumers have already paid - under a rubric other than the pre-existing condition.
