I have mixed feelings about the newest legislation to pass in the House. At my age, I am concerned about what would happen to me should I find myself without health insurance. I am fortunate to have it through my employment with the SG, but if anything were to change that, I would be one of the millions who would potentially benefit from the new government guaranteed health insurance. So even though it goes against everything in me that is American to be told by my government I must have health insurance, because I am at a precarious age, not old enough for Medicare, but too old to get another job with health insurance as a benefit should I lose the one I have, I have mixed feelings. I guess time will tell how this whole thing shakes out, but from what I have heard from those opposed to it, which seems to be much of the population, the just passed bill will create a bigger mess than exists now. Fraud and waste run rampant in the current programs of Medicare and Medicaid, and don't get me started on Social Security, so I am not sure how this administration thinks it will be able to clean it all up and still provide insurance to those who need it, without bankrupting the nation.
