Spring means new life

March 9, 2009 - Cheryl Clarke

With the death of my mother Dec. 28, this winter has been one of the most difficult of my life. The birth of my granddaughter Julia last month signaled the beginning of an end to the mourning to celebrate the joy of her new life.

With her birth and continuing development into a little person of her own, the slow but steady return of spring and the longer daylight hours, hope again begins to push through the late winter cold.

The monthly trips to Mechanicsburg to see my granddaughter are something I look forward to with much anticipation, and soon she will be old enough to come and visit us, her long distance grandparents.

Everything about Julia is delightful, even her crying, and she looks just like her father did when he was a baby. Her personality is showing itself to be much like his, as well. I cried the first time I looked into her precious face and she became aware of me as I spoke to her the way I spoke to her father so long ago.
