New life eases the pain

February 5, 2009 - Cheryl Clarke

As of this writing I am preparing to meet my first grandchild, Julia Anne Clarke, on Friday evening, after we travel to Mechanicsburg to our son and daughter in law's house. I know, it's just one more baby born, what's the bid deal? Well, until you have borne children and then seen them bring their own children into the world, you can never understand what the big deal is. It's like my brother Marc said to me not too long ago: "Grandchildren are the reason we have kids."

Of course not the only reason, but you get the idea, I hope. It is so meaningful to me because just over a month ago, I lost my dear mother to cancer, and the thought of this baby coming into the world has been what has kept me going.

Julia made her appearance Feb. 3 at 11:30 p.m. after a long labor for her mother, Sara. I have more respect and admiration than ever for this sweet and wonderful daughter-in-law that God brought into my son's life, and so does he!

And, he is head over heels in love with this beautiful little daughter of his that he and his lovely wife created, with God's help of course.

Can't wait to meet her, I know I will see my mother's brown eyes looking back at me when I look into Julia's sweet face.
